Suppose this Liberal person wanted all of the following below: And if he doesn’t get his voice heard, he’ll leave America and never come back.

1)universal health coverage,
2) a full immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq
3) release of all prisoners from Guantanamo Bay
4) gay marriage legalized at the national level
5) women’s right to choose
6) taxing the rich to increase welfare for the poor
7) Abolishing the death penalty 8) Reducing military budget and replacing it with welfare, medicaid, and embryonic stemcell research

What would you say to this Liberal guy? What would your words be?
and legalization of marijuana, I forgot that one

Can anyone help me with a couple of questions to get started on my project? I have to make a slide show, and answer these questions using this information given on this web page. http://teach.fcps.net/trt10/Webquests/StemCell.htm

I am a politician and my task is :

You are a leader on the Health and Human Services Committee. This department oversees federal spending on medical research. The NIH has applied for 250 millions dollars to be used for stem cell research. Many of the voters in your district have communicated that they want this research funded for personal reasons such as family health problems that might be helped by this. On the other hand other voters have written to you about not funding this research because of religious and moral concerns. You need to be able to respond to these voters intelligently about these issues. Also you have been asked to work with the scientist and ethicist to make recommendations. Some questions you need to be able to answer are:
Why are some voters for stem cell research and some are against it?
What role does the government play in this issue?

Can you please help me get some ideas to help me get started?

I mean an America with more social programs for Americans like grants and scholarships for students, research and science and arts programs,

much better public housing, bridge repairs, new roads, stemcell research, programs for poor people and women, public funding for gay/lesbian awareness, much better universal healthcare,

programs for prisoners, building of high-speed rails across America, a US Government Airline to compete with Delta,

free pizza for poor people, social programs for manufacturers, new Government Departments, jobs in arts and crafts,

An arts street corner, a new law requiring that every person house a starving poor person,

regional busses in every city and town,

and gay/lesbian marital rights across America,

A free computer repair station operated by Government IT people

We can have all this and more; if we just raise taxes on the wealthy I’m saying

“BOSTON (Reuters) – Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a 2008 Republican presidential hopeful, said on Thursday his administration’s new restrictions on stem cell research are aimed at heading off an “Orwellian” future.”

http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=healthNews&storyID=2006-09-01T161039Z_01_KNE158193_RTRUKOC_0_US-STEMCELL-RESEARCH.xml&archived=False

Orwell’s _1984_ is about the government controlling the people by controlling and manipulating information, so “Orwellian” would be apt for the current U.S. regime, not stem cell research.

I’m guessing that Romney meant to refer to a future akin to Huxley’s _Brave New World_, not _1984_. I don’t see that as being accurate either, just less completely off-base. Any comments? Do you agree or disagree and why, please.

The second part of my question is about the use of language — Romney uses this dark word “Orwellian” to paint SCR with fear and mystery. How do you see that?
Oh, and should a prospective Presidential candidate get points for attempting a literary reference, even if he got the wrong one?
Given the underwhelming response to this question, it appears that Aldous Huxley is quite out of fashion. That’s a loss, he’s a great writer who’s well worth reading.

If God gave us medicine to help others, the stem cell research falls under that case closed.

But think of this : Would Franklin D. Roosevelt have been a different person if he didn’t have polio and lose is legs? Yes! It was God’s will to give him Polio. We are going against God’s wishes and playing God whenever we practice medicine.

That’s why so many Doctor’s are Atheists. In a new study, 85% of Doctors said they believed in God when their names were used. The same doctors were ATHEIST under an anonymous retest! They have to hide their beliefs!

God either wants us to use StemCell Research to help each other, or ALL medicine is against God’s Will.

Without any technical terms, or things like that, just plain and simple..What is stemcell research..what exactly do they do to the embryos? how to they get them? etc.

If God gave us dominion over all the earth, then doesn’t that give us the right to use science for our will?

Such as with cloning and stemcell research?

How are we “playing god” when God made us in his image, to use life as he does. To help create better lives for all the living. Just like God….

What do you think of our President? Why?
What do you think of the War in Iraq? Why?
What do you think of Stemcell Research? Why?
What do you think of Creation, who/what started all this? Why?
What do you think of Abortion? Why?
Who do you want to be our next president? Why?
What is your stance on Gay marriage? Why?

Pick some or all Q’s and tell me what you believe…
my god people aren’t being too creative, I’d have jumped at this question!!!
everyone that answers gets a thumbs up from me

Whats the episode where Christopher reeves comes to town and uses stemcell research to become an evil superhuman villian and with the news reporter blabbering about the irony of the situation?
No its not that episode.. its a different one.. That one is totally about Jimmy and Timmy.. Theres one that has nothing to do with timmy and jimmy that Christopher reeves comes to town and demonstrates the use of stem cell research and becomes super human and takes over the city

In the past week Joe Biden asked why Sarah Palin doesn’t support stemcell research if she says she supports disabled children. Obama makes a gaffe on ABC and says he’s a muslim. Obama then goes on the O’Reilly factor and says the surge worked beyond his wildest dreams. What??? That seems like a bit different than what he was saying in the primaries. Now, there is the Obama-Palin pig controversy. Obama says he was just making a joke at the GOPs economic plan. Several reporters have said that the crowd went wild when he made the pig comment, so the crowd surely thought he was talking about Palin. Whether or not he was, it seems obvious that the Obama campaign has been off-message a lot recently and are really dancing on the edge of a cliff. Anyone else see the same thing?
